Two share lead in Singapore

Golf Betting Lines

03/08/2007 - Singapore (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Australian Marcus Fraser posted an eight-under- par 64 Thursday to join China's Wen-Chong Liang in the lead after the opening round of the Singapore Masters.

This event has a larger than normal field and is spread over two courses -- the Masters Course and the Classic Course at Laguna National Golf & Country Club -- for the first two rounds.

The final two rounds will be played on the longer, more difficult Masters Course. Both leaders played the Classic Course in the opening round.

Jyoti Randhawa, who shared third here in 2004, carded a seven-under-par 65. He shares third place with Shingo Katayama and Barry Hume.

Fraser got his round going with back-to-back birdies from the first. He parred his next three holes before dropping in a birdie effort on the par-four sixth.

The 28-year-old Australian moved to minus-four with a birdie on No. 8. Fraser parred three in a row around the turn.

Fraser birdied the 12th and came back with consecutive birdies from the 14th to get within one of Liang. Fraser chipped in for birdie on 18 to close a bogey-free round and grab a share of the top spot after round one.

"I just haven't gotten off to good starts in tournaments and have given myself such a hard time on the golf course that it comes around and bites you," said Fraser, who has missed the cut in four of his first five starts in 2007. "I thought I played pretty well last week, but just didn't get much out of it. Hopefully I can get the same result as today for the rest of the week."

Liang parred four straight to open his round on the Classic Course. He birdied three of the next four holes to move up the leaderboard.

After a par on the ninth, Liang got to four-under with a birdie on No. 10. The 28-year-old caught fire from there. He birdied the par-five 12th and came right back to birdie 13.

Liang wasn't done. He birdied the 14th and made it four straight with a birdie on the par-five 15th. Liang closed a bogey-free round with three straight pars.

"I played well on the front nine and carried that momentum into the back nine," Liang stated. "I find the Classic Course a lot easier than the Masters Course, which is why I was a bit more aggressive."

Graeme Storm and Peter Lawrie carded six-under-par 66s in the opening round. They were joined in a share of sixth place by Angelo Que, Mark Brown and Martin Kaymer.

Defending champion Mardan Mamat, Simon Yates, Jean Van de Velde, Richard Lee and Gaurav Ghei are among a large group of players tied at four-under-par 68. Of the top-32 players on the leaderboard, those five were the only ones who played the Masters Course in the first round.

MySportsbook.com: NBA Championship Odds

With the playoffs about two months away, the top two teams in the Western Conference are the clear cut leaders to win the NBA Championship. The Dallas Mavericks have the best record in the NBA (44-9) and have been absolutely scorching since the second week of the season.  What makes the Mavs’ record more impressive is the fact that they dropped their first four games of the season.  Currently they have won 17 out of their last 18 and are MySportsbook.com’s favorite (2-1) to win it all.  Right behind the Mavs are the Pacific leading Phoenix Suns (39-13).  Last season, the Suns lost in the Conference Finals to non-other then the Mavericks four games to two.  Of course the Suns were without center Amare Stoudemire who has is averaging 19.9 PPG and 9.5 RPG since coming back from his knee injury.  Unlike the Mavs, the Suns have struggled a bit lately having lost their last three and four out of their last seven.  Of course the main reason for their three straight loses is due to the absence of two time MVP Steve Nash, who is out with a shoulder injury.  Heads-up, the Mavs have beaten the Suns in both of their meetings this season.

In the Eastern Conference, the Pistons (32-19) are the favorites to win it all at 6-1. The addition of Chris Webber seems to have been a good move for the Pistons.  Since coming over from the 76ers, Webber has averaged 13.1 PPG and 7.3 RPG and the Pistons are 11-4.  Even though the defending champion Heat are currently on the playoff making cusp, they are the Eastern Conference team that is getting the most action to win it all (9-1).  The fact that Shaquille O’Neal is back in the starting lineup after missing 39 games probably has something to do with this.  No doubt, Shaq makes a difference when in the lineup as their winning six out of their last seven would indicate.

The 2009 AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds have been released and Denver Broncos' running back Knowshon Moreno has been made the opening favorite.

Bet NFL Sports Lines

Moreno was selected in the first round of April's NFL draft and is expected to carry the rushing load for the Broncos this season. And with Jay Cutler now in Chicago, Moreno might be expected to be Denver's entire offense.

Betting Lines from sports betting lines have made Moreno a 5/2 favorite to win this year's Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. Fellow running back Chris “Beanie” Wells (Arizona Cardinals) is right behind Moreno at 7/2, while Donald Brown (Indianapolis Colts) and receiver Michael Crabtree (San Francisco 49ers) are 5/1 to win. Quarterbacks Mark Sanchez (New York Jets) and Matthew Stafford (Detroit Lions) are 7/1 and 8/1, respectively.

A couple of players who present some value are Josh Freeman, Shonn Green and Darrius Heyward-Bey.

Freeman needs to beat out Byron Leftwich to become the starting quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but if he does, he has a lot or raw talent and could use the weapons around him (i.e. Kellen Winslow Jr. and Antonio Bryant) to be very successful in his first season.

Green enters a crowded backfield in New York, but considering both Thomas Jones and Leon Washington are unhappy about their contract situations and might holdout, the former Iowa product could become the Jets' primary back.

Everyone was shocked when Al Davis took Heyward-Bey with the eighth overall pick in April's draft, but the kid has a tremendous amount of talent and if quarterback JaMarcus Russell takes the next step this year, the former Maryland product could blossom. Plus, Heyward-Bey will be looking to prove the people wrong who said Oakland should have taken Michael Crabtree with the No. 8 pick.

And if you're looking for a deep sleeper, check out Pat White at 30/1. He enters the Miami Dolphins vaunted “Wild Cat” offense and could be a big time playmaker.
