NCAA Basketball Betting Lines

12/21/2006 - Hartford, CT (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - A.J. Price scored 17 points to lead four Husky players in double figures, as 14th-ranked Connecticut easily defeated Pepperdine, 88-66, in a non-league matchup at Hartford Civic Center.

Doug Wiggins came off the bench to contribute 16 points for undefeated UConn (10-0), while Hasheem Thabeet netted 15 points. Jeff Adrien had 14 points and seven rebounds, as the Huskies extended their home winning streak to a school- record 29 games.

If Connecticut runs the table in the month of December, they will become the first group of Huskies to enter the month of January at 12-0. UConn hosts Coppin State on December 27th and visits West Virginia on December 30th.

Tomas Pranciliauskas scored a team-high 22 points for Pepperdine (3-10), which has lost four of its last five games. Kingsley Costain donated 14 points and Chase Griffin added 12 in a losing effort. The Waves did manage to shoot a respectable 40 percent from the hardwood, despite Connecticut entering the contest holding opponents to just 33 percent shooting this season.

The Huskies followed the opening tipoff by scoring the game's first eight points and opened an 11-3 lead before Pepperdine battled back. The Waves trailed by just three, 16-13, after Pranciliauskas' layup at 12:48.

UConn built an 11-point cushion midway through the first half, but missed seven of its final eight attempts, including three from the foul line, and led just 40-36 heading into the break.

Pepperdine trailed by five, 48-43, after a couple of Willie Galick free throws nearly five minutes inside the second half, but UConn's offense stepped up to double that lead just minutes later.

The Waves never pulled closer than seven the rest of the way, and UConn held an 84-62 lead with just 1:13 remaining.

The Huskies also won the battle of the boards by a wide margin, 48-28. They came into the contest outrebounding opponents by 12.2 per game.

MySportsbook.com Posts Heisman Trophy Odds

With 3,919 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and a mere seven interceptions last season, combined with a powerful South Bend Heisman legacy, odds makers at MySportsbook.com have given Notre Dame senior quarterback Brady Quinn the best Heisman Trophy odds at 5-2.

Quinn isn’t the only big man on campus this season.  Oklahoma junior running back and 2004 Heisman runner-up Adrian Peterson, listed at 7-2, rushed for a combined 3,033 yards in his first two years as a college player and will give Quinn a run for his money.

This online sportsbook has also listed Troy Smith, Ohio State senior quarterback, as another strong favorite to win the 72nd Heisman Trophy.  A 7-1 bet, Smith threw for 2,282 yards last season and also led the Buckeyes to a convincing 34-20 victory over Quinn and the Fighting Irish in last season’s Fiesta Bowl.

MySportsbook.com favors Bears, Bengals, Chargers and Colts to remain perfect

LAS VEGAS , Sept. 28 - Two big match-ups of undefeated teams have fans salivating at the Week Four schedule in the NFL. The Chicago Bears stifling defense looks to provide a less than hospitable welcome to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night in a battle of two 3-0 teams in the NFC conference. In the AFC, the San Diego Chargers (2-0) head to Maryland to face the surprising Baltimore Ravens (3-0) as both try to keep pace atop the conference standings. Betting Lines makers at MySportsbook.com, online sportsbook and casino, have set the Bears as 3.5 point favorites while the Chargers are a 2.5 point bet.

Of the three remaining undefeated teams, only one, New Orleans, enters this week's game as an underdog. Despite an emotional and resounding win over Atlanta on Monday night, the Saints are a 7.5 point underdog against the struggling Carolina Panthers. Indianapolis looks to stay perfect when they face the New York Jets as a 9 point road favorite while the Cincinnati Bengals are a 6 point favorite at home to the New England Patriots.

Six teams enter the week still looking for their first win, with a seventh, Tampa Bay, on a bye week. The prospect of dropping another game would not bode well for a potential playoff run. Since 1990, just three teams -- the 1992 Chargers, 1995 Detroit Lions and 1998 Buffalo Bills -- have overcome losing their first three games of the season to earn a postseason berth. And only the Chargers managed to accomplish the feat after starting 0-4.
